Christmas Ornament Cupcakes

Makes: 24 CUPCAKES

INGREDIENTS

CUPCAKES

1 (15.25- to 16.5-ounce) package white cake mix

1 cup Land O Lakes® Half & Half

1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, melted

4 large Land O Lakes® Eggs

2 tablespoons red, green and/or white decorator sprinkles

FROSTING

5 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

2 teaspoons vanilla

5 to 6 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Half & Half

DECORATIONS

Small gumdrops

String licorice, cut into 1-inch pieces

Fruit chews and leathers, decorator candies, string licorice and/or mini candy-coated chocolate pieces

 

HOW TO MAKE

STEP 1

Heat oven to 180°F. Place paper baking cups into 24 muffin pan cups; set aside.

STEP 2

Combine all cupcake ingredients in bowl except sprinkles; beat at medium speed until well mixed. Stir in sprinkles.

STEP 3

Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups. Bake 18-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove to cooling rack. Cool completely.

STEP 4

Combine powdered sugar, 1/2 cup butter and vanilla in bowl; beat at medium speed, adding enough half & half for desired spreading consistency.

STEP 5

Create ornament hangers by cutting small slice into top of each gumdrop with small knife. Insert both ends of 1-inch licorice piece into each slice. Set aside.

STEP 6

Frost each cupcake; place 1 ornament hanger on top of each cupcake. Decorate as desired.
